Here Comes The Bride, All Dressed in Just Plugs?

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

Hello cyberspace!

This past weekend I traveled to Las Vegas for the Monster Jam World Finals and I have to admit, the event was pretty amazing. And oh by the way – Vegas was a pretty good time too, especially right in the middle of the NCAA tournament.  Nothing beats watching my Mizzou Tigers DOMINATE Memphis.   If only I could have bet on who would win the World Finals, I would have made a killing!

Before I go any further I’d like to say congratulations to Feld Motor Sports for creating an amazing, fan-friendly event.  Every truck was promoted tremendously well and the fans are very loyal.  This was my first Monster Jam event and I came away extremely impressed.

Overall I think the weekend ran smoothly and we will definitely use these brand ambassadors again when we’re back for the NHRA Nationals in October.  They were great all weekend promoting Just Plugs with all the fans who are really starting to open up to the product and the Hear No Evil sweepstakes.

To be honest, the only low point of the weekend was watching Mizzou lose to UConn in the Elite 8.  In my life as a Tiger fan, the only other time I got this excited about the team was in 1995 when they almost beat UCLA before Tyus Edny proceeded to give me a 10-year buzz kill with his last second, full-court drive which propelled UCLA to a subsequent title.  Oh well.

Anyways…sorry for the long blog and we’ll see you in Jacksonville next week.  Wish me luck!

Home, Sweet St. Louis, Home

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

Dear Internet,

I’m back again after a short time at home in between events.

As I mentioned in my last letter, this past weekend saw me heading north to my homeland of St. Louis for the annual Supercross event at the Edward Jones Dome.  Living in Atlanta, I rarely get to see my family, so dove tailing some time with them while I was working an event made for a great few days.

The weekend started rocky as I had inadvertently left my camera on the rental car shuttle.  Luckily the shuttle drove up and the driver asked me if I left something on the bus and a potential crisis was averted.  Hi-yo!!

I’d have to give the weekend a huge “thumbs-up” because not only did the event run smoothly but we were also able to have some of the Just Plugs folks on-site with us to experience the event.   It’s always nice to deliver a solid and successful weekend, especially when our clients are there also.

On the product side, fans seem to warming up to Just Plugs and the sweepstakes has been a HUGE hit.  I’m intrigued to see how Monster Jam fans will take to the product when I travel to Las Vegas next week.   And may I say…it will be a well-timed trip to be in Vegas during the NCAA tournament during the Sweet 16 and the Elite 8.

I had my quarterly review on Monday. These pictures should tell the story.

Hello New Orleans

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

Dear Internet,

Last time we spoke I was moving boxes for UPS and their NASCAR sponsorship. I’m proud to say that I have moved on up in the world and now represent Just Plugs: The Most Seriously Awesome Hearing Protection around! Although I have a new client, I still travel to motorsports events to promote both the Just Plugs brand, and their on-going sweepstakes throughout the year.

Currently, Just Plugs is the official hearing protection of Nitro Jam, World of Outlaws and the National Tractor Pullers Association and is also a presenting sponsor for specific events in both Monster Jam and Supercross. This weekend I traveled to New Orleans for the inaugural Supercross event at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium

On-site my main job is to build awareness surrounding the product while promoting the Just Plugs Sweepstakes I mentioned above. I hired “brand ambassadors” to take photographs with fans, then redirecting them to the justplugs.com to download their photo. As you’ll notice in the picture, I live a very difficult lifestyle these days!

Overall my trip to New Orleans was a great one. I’ve never actually been there before but just being able to order a drink “to go” is awesome in its own right. Add in the fact that it was St. Patty’s Day weekend and I’m glad to be alive blogging to my favorite internet pals. Moving past the extracurricular activities, I was fairly nervous when I got to the Superdome to start the event seeing as though I’d never done anything like this before. I have to hand it to my Just Plugs girls; they really made the time fly quickly and were excellent ambassadors for the Just Plugs brand.

Can’t wait until my next trip to St. Louis.

Goodnight and thanks for stopping by

Brandon

Case Study: Cubicles

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

As I was walking towards the kitchen yesterday, which I do quite frequently, Brandon Schnitzer’s cube caught my eye. Now, each team member decorates their cube with pictures or posters or even items from past events. But, seeing Brandon’s cube is a spectacle in itself. I have posted two pictures below: one of Chris Argano’s modest cube and then the cube of Brandon. Sometimes, it feels like you should pay admission to walk by it. I hope the difference is rather evident. Please note the masses of autographed pictures (Verne Troyer, Macho Man Randy Savage, Richard Simmons…the list goes on) as well as the pirate hat and fish bowl around Brandon’s cube.

Back to the Track

Monday, March 9th, 2009

This past weekend, the boys of NASCAR made their first of two stops in Atlanta for the 2009 season. Some of the a|i|m team traveled down to the speedway and grabbed a few photos (see below).

It was also the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new a|i|m motorhome. Pictures will be following shortly of that as well, but Mark’s Kodak Fun Saver 35 was left at home this morning…tsk, tsk.

To the new owner of our previous motorhome: please return the two bags of Cooler Ranch Doritos as well as the a|i|m-branded coozies. Thank you.
