Dallas

Friday, June 5th, 2009

It’s been 6 weeks since my last post so I’m pretty sure everyone in cyberspace has been asking themselves, “Where did Brandon Schnitzer go?” Well the answer is simple…no traveling = no posts. Lucky for all of us, my traveling hiatus ended this week as I flew to Dallas to promote Just Plugs at the Nitro Jam event in Crandall, TX.

For those of you who don’t know and I was one of them until a few months ago, Nitro Jam is one of the many drag racing series in these United States.  I’d have to say the coolest thing about “The Jam” (That’s what I call Nitro Jam) is that anyone can enter their personal hotrod in the Sportsman Races.  I saw everything from an old school 1930’s Ford to a beat-up pimped-out Texas Ranger SWAT car.  I wish I would have taken a picture of it because it was CLASSIC!

In regards to the event on-site, it ran fairly smoothly, although the weather wasn’t too great.  Overall I’d rate the event a 9, especially since it was our first one with a branded tent.  a|i|m introduced Just Plugs to a wide array of corporate sponsors of The Jam and its B2B sales are looking extremely promising.

As usual I’d like to thank my awesome brand ambassadors “aka Just Plugs Girls” for their help throughout the weekend.  It was pretty cool to hear them on the PA announcements plugging the brand…MUCH APPRECIATED!

Overall there weren’t any real crazy stories like usual, although I’m happy to say I finally had my first experience at Whataburger.  While I do agree that it freaking rules, it definitely does not compare to In-N-Out!  Whoever says that the two are comparable is sadly mistaken.

Two weeks off before my next endeavor in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  I’ll get my cowboy hat ready, because I hear the Rodeo is in town! HI-YO!

Peace out interweb,

Schnitz

My weekend in the “Largest City in the United States!”

Thursday, April 16th, 2009

Hey Everyone,

It’s that time again – another chapter in the life of Brandon Schitzer!

I am just now getting back from my fourth weekend of traveling in a row! Although some would maybe have issues with it – I don’t.  How many guys in their mid-20’s get to travel to New Orleans, St. Louis, Vegas and Jacksonville in four consecutive weeks for business and enjoy what they’re doing?

This weekend we were in Jacksonville, FL with Just Plugs for the Supercross event at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium.  Did you know that Jacksonville is the largest city in the United States at over 820 square miles?

Jacksonville – The Biggest City in the World!

Jacksonville – The Biggest City in the World!

Overall, the Jacksonville event went extremely well.  For the fourth straight week, the Just Plugs promotional girls were excellent, the fans were receptive and we promoted Just Plugs to thousands of fans at the Supercross event. On a personal note, my favorite part of the weekend was when a few fans came up to me and recognized me from New Orleans.  See, Mom – I am famous!

This kid woulnd't stop bragging.

After the event ended, I headed over to my friendly neighborhood Applebee’s to eat and watch the UNC-Villanova Final Four game.  As a bonus I ran into a bachelorette party that was just getting started at the Applebee’s also.  Hey-yo!

After my travel issues in Vegas, I am happy to report that I encountered no delays on the flight home and I can’t wait until my next event, at the end of May for the IHRA Nitro Jam at Dallas Raceway in Crandall, TX.  See you there!

Until next time,

Schnitty

Here Comes The Bride, All Dressed in Just Plugs?

Hello cyberspace!

This past weekend I traveled to Las Vegas for the Monster Jam World Finals and I have to admit, the event was pretty amazing. And oh by the way – Vegas was a pretty good time too, especially right in the middle of the NCAA tournament.  Nothing beats watching my Mizzou Tigers DOMINATE Memphis.   If only I could have bet on who would win the World Finals, I would have made a killing!

Before I go any further I’d like to say congratulations to Feld Motor Sports for creating an amazing, fan-friendly event.  Every truck was promoted tremendously well and the fans are very loyal.  This was my first Monster Jam event and I came away extremely impressed.

Overall I think the weekend ran smoothly and we will definitely use these brand ambassadors again when we’re back for the NHRA Nationals in October.  They were great all weekend promoting Just Plugs with all the fans who are really starting to open up to the product and the Hear No Evil sweepstakes.

To be honest, the only low point of the weekend was watching Mizzou lose to UConn in the Elite 8.  In my life as a Tiger fan, the only other time I got this excited about the team was in 1995 when they almost beat UCLA before Tyus Edny proceeded to give me a 10-year buzz kill with his last second, full-court drive which propelled UCLA to a subsequent title.  Oh well.

Anyways…sorry for the long blog and we’ll see you in Jacksonville next week.  Wish me luck!

Home, Sweet St. Louis, Home

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

Dear Internet,

I’m back again after a short time at home in between events.

As I mentioned in my last letter, this past weekend saw me heading north to my homeland of St. Louis for the annual Supercross event at the Edward Jones Dome.  Living in Atlanta, I rarely get to see my family, so dove tailing some time with them while I was working an event made for a great few days.

The weekend started rocky as I had inadvertently left my camera on the rental car shuttle.  Luckily the shuttle drove up and the driver asked me if I left something on the bus and a potential crisis was averted.  Hi-yo!!

I’d have to give the weekend a huge “thumbs-up” because not only did the event run smoothly but we were also able to have some of the Just Plugs folks on-site with us to experience the event.   It’s always nice to deliver a solid and successful weekend, especially when our clients are there also.

On the product side, fans seem to warming up to Just Plugs and the sweepstakes has been a HUGE hit.  I’m intrigued to see how Monster Jam fans will take to the product when I travel to Las Vegas next week.   And may I say…it will be a well-timed trip to be in Vegas during the NCAA tournament during the Sweet 16 and the Elite 8.

Hello New Orleans

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

Dear Internet,

Last time we spoke I was moving boxes for UPS and their NASCAR sponsorship. I’m proud to say that I have moved on up in the world and now represent Just Plugs: The Most Seriously Awesome Hearing Protection around! Although I have a new client, I still travel to motorsports events to promote both the Just Plugs brand, and their on-going sweepstakes throughout the year.

Currently, Just Plugs is the official hearing protection of Nitro Jam, World of Outlaws and the National Tractor Pullers Association and is also a presenting sponsor for specific events in both Monster Jam and Supercross. This weekend I traveled to New Orleans for the inaugural Supercross event at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium

On-site my main job is to build awareness surrounding the product while promoting the Just Plugs Sweepstakes I mentioned above. I hired “brand ambassadors” to take photographs with fans, then redirecting them to the justplugs.com to download their photo. As you’ll notice in the picture, I live a very difficult lifestyle these days!

Overall my trip to New Orleans was a great one. I’ve never actually been there before but just being able to order a drink “to go” is awesome in its own right. Add in the fact that it was St. Patty’s Day weekend and I’m glad to be alive blogging to my favorite internet pals. Moving past the extracurricular activities, I was fairly nervous when I got to the Superdome to start the event seeing as though I’d never done anything like this before. I have to hand it to my Just Plugs girls; they really made the time fly quickly and were excellent ambassadors for the Just Plugs brand.

Can’t wait until my next trip to St. Louis.

Goodnight and thanks for stopping by

Brandon
